How do babies learn?
Have you wondered about that? And are you eager to teach your baby everything as soon as possible? Then this article that I have written for Morisons Baby Dreams(@morisonsbabydreams) is for you. Find out how easy it is to teach your baby everything. No. You don't need expensive tools and instruments. Link: https://www.smartmums.in/how-do-babies-learn/ In the past week I have had conversations with two people about food and eating...
A new mom who is unable to lose weight even though she eats almost nothing. And a teenager who is unable to gain weight even though she eats all the time. Through my conversations with both of them my attempt has been to help them to STOP thinking of food in terms of mere calories....And eating in terms of weight loss or weight gain. I think it is really important that all of us begin to think this way. Let us focus on what we are eating... Instead of how much. What goes into what is on my plate,.. Where did it come from.... Who grew the ingredients.... Who put them together to create the dish.... And so on. That will automatically ensure that we are eating what is good for us in every way. Does that sound difficult? It isn't. All you need to do is make a beginning. And you can do that with #OMBCDiscover2021 India's only healthy baking conference organised by Simran Oberoi Multani (@sim_ovenderful) I am one of the speakers. Find the details below My 5 th book.
Title - How to motivate your teenager to study. If you are the parent of a teenager - I would recommend this book to you. It costs INR 10/- only!!! Get the Juggernaut app(@juggernaut.in/) - download the book and discover why your teen is not studying And what you need to do to change that. "Joyful Parenting through challenging times"
My workshop this evening for the parents of a corporate organization. What keeps us going through tough times? RESILIENCE. And what builds resilience? RELATIONSHIPS. Now more than ever before we need strong relationships to help us tide over the challenging times we are in. But too much work - too much proximity - and too little me-time is resulting in our relationships getting strained. And our strained relationships with our children are making parenting very difficult. What can we do about this? Repair our relationships - by working on and improving the way we connect and communicate with our children. Communication and connection however, is not easy. Because children keep changing. And the way we connect and communicate with them must change as well. It was my pleasure to help parents understand how they need to change the way they connect with their children as they grow from newborns into teenagers. Extremely grateful for this opportunity to make parenting a little easier. Speaking to the parents of boys who will now forever be known as "Josephites" has become a yearly event that I look forward to with a heart filled with gratitude.
I have had the privilege of conducting my parenting workshop at the parent orientation program at SJBHS St. Joseph's Boys' High School Bangalore (@sjbhs.official)- for the past 7 years now. Every year I speak on the role of the parents in the successful schooling of their child. Yesterday I spoke on how parents can prepare their children for the virtual classroom to ensure effective learning. The response to the workshop was overwhelming. The principal of the school Father Sunil Cletus Fernandes(sunilfernandes78) called the session inspiring and enriching. The administrator of the primary section Father Vishal said that the workshop was everything the parents needed as they began their journey as parents of early learners. He also shared with me that several parents had sent him a list of action points that they had decided they would work on to be better parents after attending the workshop. There is nothing more that I can ask for. It is not easy to speak to a virtual audience. Because unlike a real audience - you cannot guage the impact your words are having on them as they sit far far away from you in their homes. But when they voluntarily reach out and share the impact your words have had on them....... And share what they are determined to change so that they can be better parents..... You know that you are doing something right. Like it does every year - yesterday's workshop at the St Joseph's Boys' High School has convinced me that my work is impactful. And it is with gratitude that I promise to follow my chosen path and continue to make parenting easier through my work. In the past few months - I have increasingly begin to think of my consultations as endeavours to 'design' healthy happy family lifestyles.
Does the word 'design' surprise you? Especially when it appears in connection with family life? It shouldn't. Every family must design their day - their week and their month to ensure that everyday things like cooking, eating etc. are almost automatic. This was what I had in mind when I visualized the "Healthy and Tasty made Effortless and Easy" Recipe book. And my vison was turned into reality by Simran Oberoi Multani(@sim_ovenderful) - who carefully designed recipes and daily menus for the book. The book has a meal plan for every day of the week. The plan for each day caters for 6 meals ( including snacks and tiffin boxes) Each day focuses on keeping a different organ system of the body healthy. Different Carbohydrates proteins and fats are used on every day and at every meal to ensure that the body receives all the nutrients. The meals are designed such that all the meals for the day can be prepared in an hour's time. There is flow chart for each day that shows you how to organize your kitchen work so that you can cook without stress. Yesterday I received this message from Proma Chatterjee Nautiyal(@proma_nautiyal) who is using this book. And it really made my day. I am so happy that we were able to create something valuable for busy parents. Thank you so much Simran. You are simply amazing. Reach out if you want a copy. There are a zillion reasons why I love conducting #parentingworkshops at Trio Tots Preschool Sahakar Nagar.
And that is why my heart jumps with joy every time I hear from Tots Head Greshma Geeta Bharat Momaya and she shares a topic she would like me to speak on. This time - the topic she gave me was - "How to maximize learning when preschool is online" And she asked me to focus on how parents can facilitate learning by building children's social and emotional skills. Yes social and emotional skills are crucial for learning. Children can only use their thinking brains when they can control their emotions using their emotional skills. And children can only acquire knowledge when they are connected with the other person (teacher) - through their social skills. The isolation mandated by the pandemic has had an impact on children's social and emotional skills. And this has the potential to impact learning. I love the way Trio Schools are rising to overcome this challenge. Last month I conducted a workshop for the teachers of Trio Tots - to help them to build a successful social and emotional connect with children. And today I helped parents understand how they can help their children build this connect with their teachers. I love how Trio is making the effort to ensure that everyone involved is putting in the effort to ensure that learning happens in the best possible way. Extremely grateful for this opportunity to contribute towards making early learning a beautiful and impactful experience despite the current challenges.
