If you are pregnant - I am sending you a big hug.
All of us are stressed with all that is going on But I know you are more stressed than others. After all you are currently completely responsible for 2 people. And then you are worried about so many others. If you are feeling pregnancy stress try the relaxation techniques I have shared in this article that I have written for Morisons Baby Dreams Understand why you are stressed. And switch your nervous system from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic. Even if you are not pregnant - you can practice these techniques. All of us need to feel better right now. Because they struggle with learning. And several times they struggle because they are not using their memory effectively. Children learn to use their memory like they learn to walk. First they use their brains clumsily Then slowly they teach themselves how to use their brains better They learn by trial and error how memory works And then they become effective learners. It is a long slow process and it takes many children several years to learn how to use their memory. And many children give up along the way. But - what if we teach children how to use their memory? It makes learning easier and so much more fun that children WANT to learn. I spent this morning sharing some secrets about the way memory works with the teachers of SJBHS so that they can pass them on to the children they teach. Very grateful for this opportunity to interact with the people who are shaping new minds for the new world. The neurobiological connection between teacher and student is most important to teaching and learning.
And it was my pleasure to take the teachers of SJBHS on a journey to explore this connection this morning. Such a fun interactive session - of discovery. I had a great time. And I was thrilled to know that the participants did too. It is stamped with ....EDITOR'S PICK !!!!
I am so so so thrilled! My new book "How to help your child score better" Now available on the Juggernaut app (@juggernaut.in ) in their "New Releases" section is stamped with the words "Editor's pick" And it makes me so happy because I have written this book for all those parents who have reached out to me over the past few months with worry written all over their face because they are worried about their child's performance in the past year. 2020 has been the year of falling grades. And children are just as worried as their parents. They want to go back to performing the way did before. And no matter how many tuitions they go to - they can't do this without help from their parents. If you are a parent - looking for a way to help your child succeed - do read my book. I am sure you will find it helpful. I am planning an online meet to discuss the book soon. Do connect with me after you read the book if you would like to be part of it. Together - let's help our children triumph over the pandemic. What an amazing beginning to the New Year!!
Shubho Nobo Borsho. Today was a blessing. My morning was spent conducting a #parentingworkshop at the Parent Orientation Program (PoP) of Eurokids V.V.Puram - a school that I have been associated with for the past 4 years. I spoke on "How to Maximize Early Learning - while learning online during the Pandemic" In the past year - since learning moved online - parents have asked themselves so many questions. Do preschoolers really learn anything when they are taught online? Is it safe for them to learn online? What to do if they don't sit and learn during online class? And so on. All valid questions. And there are clear answers available from research done in the field of education and neuroscience that say YES online learning works in the early years - and also how to make it work for your child. I shared all that with parents at my workshop. And received a phenomenal response. So grateful for this opportunity to join forces with dedicated educators and keen parents to make learning easier during this difficult time. It was a pleasure and privilege to spend the morning with the teachers of the pre-primary section of SJBHS - St. Joseph's Boys' High School Bangalore.
Speaking on the "Under Construction Brain" on Day 1 of the online course - "Facilitating Learning in an Early Learner" This course is Part I of a 4 part program - "Learn about Learning in the Early Years" that I offer for teachers. With advanced techniques and technology - scientists are discovering new things about the brain everyday. I did a deep dive into this research and shared the latest knowledge in neuroscience in the context of learning in the early years with the teachers. Some great questions followed and I learnt as much as I shared. Very grateful for an amazing beginning to the week. |
