Many organizations have started giving their employees 6 months of #paternityleave
This is wonderful and has the potential to change the world by changing the brains of children.
The brain grows rapidly in the first year of life and spending quality time with the parents in the first six months of life can really accelarate the development of the brain.
What is quality time for a child?
It is the time you spend connecting with your child through play.
But do parents play with their babies in the first year?
From my experience as parenting consultant - I would say that several times - the answer is NO.
There are two reasons for this.
Reason 1 - they are so worried about the height and weight of their babies that they do not have the time to focus on the brain.
Reason 2 - they don't know how to play with a child who cannot talk and move.
This results in -
1. The brain not growing to its potential
2. Late detection of developmental delays
3. Emotional disconnect between parent and child
4. Tantrums and other conflict.
So why not grab the opportunity presented by 6 months of paternity leave and play with your baby?
In this 6 video series that I have created for Morisons Baby Dreams(@morisonsbabydreams) - I explain in detail how you can play with your baby in the first year.
Watch it - play and make good use of your paternity leave.
