I usually write about my experiences consulting with or addressing parents.
But today I am writing about my experience as a parent. I was bursting with pride and happiness yesterday. We were invited to the Raj Bhavan (the Governor's House) to watch our daughter play at the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. She played the Euphonium in an 18 member brass band (of the Frank Anthony Public School) to acccompany a 15 member choir (also from FAPS) conducted by the esteemed Mr Narayanaswamy. So so so proud of her - her passion - her dedication - her resilience and her hardwork. Close to 10 hours of practice per week for many many years - goes into mastering a wind instrument And in her case it involved overcoming a lot of pain every time - because she plays with braces. And yet there has never been a time when she has said "no" to practice. I have watched in amazement as she has enthusiastically braved hours of pain with a geniunely happy smile - as she put in the hard work. Of course none of this would have happened without the passion and love of Mr Narayanaswamy. Her determination and her passion is in large part thanks to the amazing teacher that he is and the love and respect for music that he has instilled in her. Thank you God. We are so so so grateful for these blessings. Today I feel like I have achieved a milestone in my parenting journey. |
