Going back to school after a vacation is always difficult for children.

If you are struggling with your child’s reluctance to go back to school - SAVE this post now

1. Work on your own anxiety

It is natural for you as the parent to be a little anxious about school reopening.
You may be worried about early wake up times, homework in the evenings and arranging uniforms and snack boxes.
Anxiety is infectious and your child is sure to absorb it from you.

What to do –
Plan for the first week and start preparing by arranging and organizing things. This will reduce anxiety and increase excitement.

2. Spend time talking to your child

Your child may be worried about many things. They may not have understood a chapter or completed some homework.
When you spend time talking to them they will have the chance to tell you this.

What to do –
Bring out the text books and note books and go through them while chatting about what happens in school.

3. Start sleeping early

Stop going out in the evenings and sleep early so that it becomes easier to get up early for school

What to do –
Start a bedtime routine which could be a quick game followed by reading a book before going to sleep

4. Eat home cooked nourishing food

The junk food eaten during vacations makes children cranky and anxious.

What to do –
Look up fun recipes with healthy ingredients and try them out with your child.

5. Make a schedule for school weeks

Children are often worried that once school begins they will not be able to do any of the activities they love – like playing downstairs or making craft projects.

What to do -
Make a list of the vacation activities that your child may not be able to do once school begins.
Take a planner and schedule time for these activities every weekend.

Children must look forward to school. Only then will they learn well.

Type SCHOOL and start doing this now.

Save this post to refer to later.

And share it so that all your child’s friends get excited, and everyone looks forward to the first day of school.
