Don't pick up your baby as soon as they start crying

Let them cry and they will learn to selfsoothe

If you pick them up they will get spoilt

Have you been told this by well meaning friends and relatives?

It is one of the Commonest myths about babies.

ALWAYS pick your baby up when they cry

NEVER leave them to cry

Babies cry when they need something

It is the only way they can communicate

If you respond immediately and try your best to try and understand their need and fulfill it

Or at least stay close to them until they calm down

They will grow up to be calm and confident knowing that you are always there for them.

And they will cry less and less.

I teach all this and much more in my prenatal classes so that parents don't do the wrong things Because of the myths around parenting

Did you attend a prenatal class?

I would love to know in comments

Are you looking for a school for your little one?

It is one of the most important things you will do in life.

Always visit the school before you decide

Look for the following things

1. What is the travel time from your house to the school at pickup and drop times?

2. Does the school have the staff, systems and Equipment required to keep children safe?

3. Is the school full of smiling faces and is there a welcoming vibe?

4. Is there enough space for children to move around and play?

5. Do you share the school's philosophy about education? Do you like the way things are taught?

In the early years it is more important HOW things are taught than WHAT is taught (the syllabus)

The goal is always to make the child fall in love with learning.

Drop. Heart ❤️ if you want more tips like this

Did you plan another child hoping to see lots of
SIBLING LOVE?

But

Do you now only see SIBLING RIVALRY?

Here is a 3 point strategy to shift your kids from SIBLING RIVALRY to SIBLING LOVE

1. Don't compare to motivate
Point out Strengths and how they can be used to achieve common goals

2. Don't create competition to improve performance
Teach collaboration and the art of finding a win-win

3. Don't resolve their fights
Teach them problem solving

Having a SIBLING is the golden opportunity to teach social skills

Are you using this opportunity?

Type SIBLING and start using the opportunity NOW!!

How do I manage my child’s screentime?

How do I manage my child’s screentime?

This is one of the most common questions I get from parents.

And the answer is “You need a plan.”

A plan for your time and your child’s time

Because –

“IF YOU DON’T PLAN YOUR TIME SOMEONE ELSE WILL PLAN IT FOR YOU”

And that someone else in today’s world are devices

Devices are used to CONNECT CONSUME and CREATE

The time spent CONSUMING media should be balanced by the amount of spent CREATING something out of what has been consumed.

How do you ensure this?

How do you ensure that screentime BUILDS YOUR CHILD’S BRAIN instead of destroying it?

The answer is –
1. Follow the IAP and AAP age wise guidelines

2. CREATE A FAMILY SCREENTIME PLAN.

Do you need help doing that?

Buy my “Family Screentime planner” and use it to guide you to make your plan

Type SCREENS below to receive payment details.

Remember for children below 5 years the plan is for you more than your child because your behavior determines your child’s behavior

Do you do these 3 things to end your toddler's tantrums?

Do you do these 3 things to end your toddler's tantrums?
1. Shout at them
2. Distract them with a mobile or junk food
3. Give them what they are asking for.
All 3 will only lead to more tantrums
What should you do?
Teach your child to manage their tantrums using the LEARN strategy
L - Listen to what your child is saying.
E - Empathize with the way they are feeling
A - Acknowledge that it is okay to feel that way
R - Explain the Reason they cannot do / cannot have what they want
N - Help them to make a strategy to manage their emotions when they are in the same situation Next Time
