Just follow my 5A formula The 1st A is ACCEPT Accept your child the way they are. Every child is amazing. Every child has qualities that will make them successful in life Stop CRITICISING them COMPARING them with others That destroys their confidence and then they can’t do anything The 2nd A is AVAILABLE Be available for your child to connect with you. Connection with you is your child’s oxygen It is not enough to be physically available. Be emotionally available. Don’t be distracted or preoccupied or on your phone Listen to your child and play with them to build their brain The 3rd A is AUTONOMY Give your child the freedom to make some decisions. Don’t keep ordering them around. Let them do some things independently Freedom and independence teach children to make good decisions. And good decisions make your child successful The 4th A is AFFIRMATION Remind your child about their STRENGTHS through affirmations. Don’t keep pointing out their mistakes Tell them how amazing they are and what they did right. When they feel good, they will behave well When they know what you like they will do more of the right things Affirmations are the easy way to discipline your child The 5th A is APOLOGISE When you make a mistake – say sorry And after saying sorry – don’t make the mistake again. Your child will imitate you and learn from their mistakes. That will make them successful. So – are you ready for A+++++ on your parenting report card?
