​Disobedience is a sign of development.

What adults call “disobedience” is often the brain learning to become capable and confident 

1. When the brain starts building independence, children start making choices and saying NO
This results in power struggles. But this is not bad behavior it is brain development 

2. When the brain starts building confidence, children start trying to do things without help
But when they do that they make mistakes, slow us down and appear stubborn becausethey want to keep trying. This is not bad behaviour. This is brain growth 

3. When the brain starts building intelligence, children start asking questions. They challenge rules, disagree or argue. This is not bad behaviour. It is brain growth

4. When children start to build an identity, they start dressing differently or speaking differently from the accepted way. This may look rude but development often looks messy before it looks mature.

Disobedience is not bad behavior 
It is the brain trying to grow and build capability
